Environment and Air Quality Monitoring:
Environment as a chain of numerous attached elements comprising of interconnected life chains. Any damage within this ecosystem more or less affect other elements. Deforestation, for instance, causes less photo sensitization rate which in turn can lead to higher air pollution levels in the long term. By the way, we as human nature are hurting our surrounding environment unintentionally!
Environmental pollution is the direct effect of human activities and natural phenomena. Before the industrial revolution, the level of air pollution was limited since natural self-refining processes were able to counteract the pollution. After revolutionization and due to excessive fossil fuel consumption, the air pollution level exceeded the refining rate and caused sudden pollution issues. Alongside with rapid growth of industry at the time, a vast variety of air pollutant released into the environment and destructive effects on human being and fauna increased as a result. Up to a point different kind of disease, particularly mental cases, in urban areas recognized as a direct result of the environmentally-polluted surrounding.
Air pollution phenomenon currently is one main public health consideration since the pollutants can be transmitted from the origin fast and easily. This issue can happen within national borders, districts, and inter- continentally which can cause environmental, social, economical, and political crises. Particulate matter phenomenon changed from national into a mutual problematic issue for neighboring countries for instance in the last few years.
Pollution from industry stacks considered main air pollution sources. Air pollutants can simply categorize in particulate matters and gaseous substances which can be a mixture of both forms as well based on industry operating processes. Carbon-monoxide, Nitrogen-dioxide, various sulfuric-oxides, and unburned Hydro-carbons are the main pollutants from industrial processes. Other types of gaseous and vapor substances can be emitted into the environment which can exceed allowed densities. The first step for each air pollution control program is the monitoring of these pollutants which is mandatory for massive industries and values should be reported regularly to relevant organizations.
Regarding the vast range of air pollutants, recognition and measuring of pollutants require the utilization of sampling and monitoring techniques which differs from one substance to another. Online monitoring equipment are common for combustion and industry stacks and recently are in use for environmental air quality monitoring due to higher reliability and accuracy level offered.
